Just before graduation, the Embry-Riddle athletic department handed out its Ernie Awards for the 2024-2025 season. Two of the biggest awards went to Demetris Love, junior, and Rae Yoshioka, who were named the university’s male and female athletes of the year. Love was the runner-up at the NAIA national meet, earning All-American status. In Yoshioka’s final season with the women’s soccer team, she notched eleven goals and ten assists, was an All-GSAC selection, and an NAIA All-American selection.
Noah Gifft and Sophia Noriega were Riddle male and female freshmen of the year. Gifft was named the GSAC freshman of the year and averaged 16.3 points per game for the men’s basketball team. Noriega placed 23rd at the NAIA national cross country meet and was an All-American selection.
Men’s basketball’s David Teibo and track’s Makenna Bray – a Prescott alum – were the male and female comeback athletes of the year for overcoming injuries to succeed in their sports.
