Major recognition for some Embry-Riddle softball players. After being named the GSAC Player of the Year, Leah Salas was named to the NAIA All-American second team. It’s her first All-American honor.
The Sahuarita native hit .496 this season with a conference-leading 12 home runs, 39 RBIs, 18 doubles, 44 runs scored, a .959 slugging percentage, and a conference-best .582 on-base percentage.
Salas was also named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Region first team. Joining her on the All-Region first team was Autumn Sulusi. She hit .394 with five home runs, 41 RBIs, eleven doubles, and 27 runs scored.
Vanessa Brink was selected to the All-Region second team. This season, she won the pitching triple crown for the GSAC with 20 wins, a 1.73 ERA, and 153 strikeouts. Brink was also named the conference Pitcher of the Year.
