Last year, the Prescott Valley Police Department began using license plate readers. On Thursday, the Town Council received an update on the effectiveness of the system.
Assistant Chief James Edelstein explained the difference between searching for suspects pre- and post-license plate readers:
Edelstein says over the past year, license plate readers have helped the Prescott Valley Police arrest a woman wanted for manslaughter out of Pinal County, locate and arrest a man wanted for a shooting between two vehicles, and apprehend a man who had shoved two women out of his moving vehicle.
