The Yavapai County Office of Emergency Management, in close coordination with the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office and the Prescott National Forest, has been actively engaged in response efforts for the Turkey Fire near Cleator, just southeast of Turkey Creek. The fire was ignited from an apparent lightning strike Monday afternoon.
The fire no longer poses an immediate threat and the Set pre-evacuation status areas of Cleator has been lifted. Firefighters will watch for hot spots in the area, so try to avoid travel to allow them to complete this work.
At last report, the Turkey Fire was 157 acres in size.
