Two Arrested in Camp Verde Drug Bust

The Camp Verde Marshal’s Office arrested two people early Wednesday morning after a traffic stop turned into a major narcotics bust.

Around 1:30 a.m., deputies pulled over a vehicle for a civil infraction. Inside were 39-year-old Errol Lee Smith and 44-year-old Eulonda Lou Yazzie, both from the Tuba City area. An 11-year-old child was also in the vehicle.

Deputies say they developed probable cause to search the car and discovered over 50 grams of methamphetamine, more than 30 grams of fentanyl, a usable amount of cocaine, and a stolen vehicle reported out of Tonalea, Arizona.

Both Smith and Yazzie were taken into custody and now face multiple felony charges including: possession of narcotic drugs, possession of narcotic drugs for sale, possession of dangerous drugs, possession of dangerous drugs for sale, endangerment, and possession of stolen property.

The child was safely removed from the scene and placed with the Department of Child Safety.

The Marshal’s Office says this arrest is part of its ongoing effort to combat illegal and dangerous drugs in the Camp Verde area, and to keep local neighborhoods safe.
