Prescott Nat’l Forest Announces Camping Changes on Mingus Mt

The Prescott National Forest is proposing to open up camping on Mingus Mountain to the general public. The plan would convert several existing campsites—currently reserved for a private club—into a public campground.

Under the proposal, the new North Mingus Campground would charge 18 dollars per night for single sites and 36 dollars for doubles.

Prescott National Forest Supervisor Sarah Clawson says the move is meant to expand access to high-elevation camping, which is increasingly popular during hotter months. She says the fees will help cover maintenance costs.
