The City of Prescott is marking a major milestone this month – the 35th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Signed into law on July 26, 1990, the ADA protects the rights of individuals with disabilities and ensures equal access to employment, education, transportation, and public spaces.
In honor of the anniversary, the city is highlighting local efforts to promote inclusion. That includes new communication boards at the community splash pad, the Armory, and Prescott Regional Airport. These tools help people with speech and language challenges express themselves more easily.
Prescott also continues to grow its Special Needs Adaptive Programs (or SNAP), offering inclusive recreation for residents with disabilities.
City officials say they remain committed to accessibility and upholding the spirit of the ADA in every public service and space.
