With only a few weeks left before the new school year begins, Yavapai College finds itself in need of three new head coaches. Baseball’s Pat Woods, softball’s Kali Pugh, and women’s basketball’s Shareka Maner have all left the college.
Woods spent the past three seasons as the baseball team’s head coach. During that time, the Roughriders went 79-79. He also sent the vast majority of his players on to four-year schools. He had previously coached at Hill College and Oxnard College.
Pugh also spent three seasons as Yavapai’s softball coach. Her record during that stint was 41-89. She had been an assistant coach at Palomar College before coming to YC.
Maner spent just one season with the women’s basketball team, finishing with a 5-20 record. She was previously head coach for St. Andrews University and Grays Harbor College.
Since 2021, Yavapai College Athletics has had ten of its head coaches and two of its athletic directors depart.
