The risk continues for a major wildfire in Yavapai County. The fire danger in the Prescott National Forest is currently high. Everyone is urged to be careful with anything that can produce a flame or a spark in order to prevent a wildfire from breaking out. If you smoke, make sure to properly discard your cigarettes—do not throw them into grass or brush.
When driving, check that no chains are dragging from your vehicle, as they can throw out sparks. Also, do not park on grass, as the heat from under your vehicle can ignite the vegetation.
It’s also a good idea to clear excess brush and vegetation from around your home to create defensible space in the event of a wildfire. As a reminder, Stage One fire restrictions are in place in the Prescott National Forest.
