Former Prescott City Councilwoman Cathey Rusing will be the new mayor of Prescott later this year. She won the mayor’s race over Councilman Brandon Montoya in Tuesday’s primary election. Rusing has 9,783 votes to Montoya’s 6,578.
For the three City Council seats, Mary Frederickson has 8,470 votes, Jim Garing 8,460 votes, Jay Ruby 7,381 votes, Henry Ebrard II 6,792 votes, and Greg Lazzell 6,557 votes.
As for the two propositions, Prop 484 regarding the protection of open space has 13,878 yes votes to 2,692 no votes, and Prop 482 for home rule has 12,392 yes votes to 3,780 no votes.
