It appears the Kirkland Fire is firmly under control. The Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management reports the wildfire is still holding at 913 acres and is 90-percent contained. The number of personnel assigned to the fire has been reduced to 35.
The fire began on August 1st when a man driving on the rim of a blown-out tire created sparks that started a roadside fire that grew into the Kirkland Fire.
