Prescott area Congressman Eli Crane announced applications are now open for the reauthorized and expanded Radiation Exposure Compensation Act. The federal government recently extended the program to provide a one-time payment of $100,000 to eligible downwinders and uranium workers.
Qualifying individuals include those who were physically present in Yavapai, Coconino, Navajo, Apache, Gila, or Mohave counties between January 1951 and November 1962, or who worked in covered uranium occupations for at least one year between 1942 and 1990.
The deadline to file a claim is December 31, 2027. To apply online, go to justice.gov/civil/reca.
