Woman Injured in OHV Accident Near Cleator

A husband and wife were rescued Sunday after their off-highway vehicle rolled off DeSoto Mine Road near Cleator.

According to the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office, forest patrol deputies responded to the single-vehicle accident in a remote, rugged area near Cleator. The driver told deputies the vehicle malfunctioned while navigating a curve, sending it down a steep embankment.

Due to the difficult terrain, an Arizona DPS Ranger helicopter was called in. The injured passenger was hoisted out and flown to a Phoenix-area hospital. Her condition has not been released.

The driver was uninjured and transported out by ground crews. He said both were wearing seat belts, which he believes prevented more serious injuries.

Authorities say no impairment was involved in the crash.
