Local scoreboard from yesterday, in volleyball, Prescott swept St. Mary’s 3-0. Bradshaw Mountain fell to Mesquite 3-1. Mackenzie Strader posted 18 kills and Mackenzie Proffer recorded 20 assists. Chino Valley lost to Wickenburg 3-0.
Alumni update time, Rey Bennett is off to a great start in her collegiate career. The former Prescott volleyballer was named the Kylie Intfen National Defensive Player of the Week. Bennett had 34 digs for Centenary University against the College of Mount Saint Vincent, which is the alma mater of KYCA Sports Director John Rust.
Big awards for two local college athletes. Yavapai College volleyballer Jezebel Rivas was named the conference defensive player of the week with 69 digs in four matches. Embry-Riddle keeper Aubrie Dupre was named the G-SAC defender of the week with four saves in a 0-0 tie with Science and Arts of Oklahoma.
Girls and Sports Day is on the horizon. It takes place September 27th at the Prescott YMCA. Girls ages 7 to 14 can participate in numerous activities, and you can register at prescottymca.org.
