Prescribed Burn in Chino Valley Ranger District

Fire managers on the Chino Valley Ranger District plan to conduct a prescribed burn in the Yolo Ranch area starting Sunday. The burn will target about 450 acres of ponderosa pine in the northwest section of Prescott National Forest.

Light smoke may be visible from Prescott, Chino Valley, and Paulden. Smoke may linger overnight in valleys, so drivers should slow down, use headlights, and watch for fire crews in the area. No roads or trails will be closed during the operation.

The burn is part of a long-term strategy to reduce forest fuels and lower wildfire risk.
