YCSO Responds to School Threat in Cottonwood

The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a credible threat made against the Dr. Daniel Bright Elementary School in Cottonwood Tuesday. One person was taken into custody, and there are no outstanding suspects.

Sheriff’s Office officials say the threat was discovered after a parent reported concerning messages found on a child’s cell phone. As a precaution, extra law enforcement was assigned to Bright Elementary School. School district leaders were also on-site to support students, staff, and families.

Sheriff David Rhodes thanked the alert parent for taking action, saying community partnership is vital to school safety.

Parents are urged to monitor their children’s online activity and report any concerns to the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office at 928-771-3260.
