YCSO Recovers Stolen $35,000 Ring

The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a 53-year-old housekeeper from Prescott in connection with the theft of a valuable ring from an elderly Dewey resident.

Michele Peterson is accused of stealing a wedding ring worth an estimated 35-thousand dollars from a woman in her 80s. The theft was reported on September 12, but investigators believe the ring was taken two days earlier—the same day Peterson was providing housekeeping services at the victim’s home.

Detectives from YCSO quickly launched an investigation, tracking online leads and gathering evidence. Their efforts paid off when they located and recovered the stolen ring.

On September 24, detectives found and arrested Peterson. She now faces charges including theft and trafficking in stolen property.
