It’s about to get very wet in Yavapai County. The National Weather Service is forecasting a high chance of rain starting Thursday. A lot more rain could fall on Prescott Friday and Saturday as there is a 60 to 70 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms both days. Prescott could see up to an inch of rain on Friday. There is also a 60 percent chance of rain in Camp Verde and a 70 percent chance for storms in Sedona through the weekend. The rain could linger in Yavapai County through next Tuesday.
The storms are the result of Hurricane Priscilla, which drenched the western coast of Mexico. Because of all the rain predicted for Yavapai County, there is an increased risk of flash flooding. You can protect your property from flood waters by getting sandbags from your local fire department, though you will have to fill them yourself.
