Defense was on full display for both the Bradshaw Mountain and Lee Williams football teams in Friday’s game at Kingman. Neither team scored during the first half. The Bears broke through in the second half with a pair of touchdowns. The Volunteers closed the gap in the fourth quarter, but Bradshaw hung on to get the 13-7 deke.
Kylin Jackson had both touchdowns for the Bears — one on a 20-yard run, the other on a 60-yard punt return. Sebastian Witkowski had an interception. Bradshaw Mountain is now 5-2 on the season and 4-0 in Grand Canyon Region play.
It was a tough night for the other local football teams Friday. Chino Valley got shut out by Camp Verde 50-0. The Cougars have lost three in a row and are 4-4 on the season.
Mayer fell to Valley Union 46-6. Jonny Bryce threw a 30-yard touchdown pass to Sean Valenzuela. The Wildcats are 1-5 on the season.
