New Scam Targeting Families of Inmates in Yavapai County

The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about a new phone scam targeting families of inmates.

Scammers are posing as Sheriff’s Office employees, claiming money is needed to enroll inmates in special programs or to secure court participation. YCSO Officials say — this is a fraud.

The Sheriff’s Office emphasizes they will never call, text, or email to request payments for any reason — including programs, fines, or release conditions.
The scam often involves urgent demands for payment via gift cards, wire transfers, or digital payment apps.

If you receive such a call, hang up immediately and do not provide personal or financial information.
