Drought Eases a Bit in Yavapai County

The recent rain brought some relief to the drought in Yavapai County.

According to the U.S. Drought Monitor, the eastern part of the county is abnormally dry. Central Yavapai County is in moderate drought, and the western half is in severe drought. A portion of southern Yavapai County around Yarnell and Congress is in extreme drought.

As for the rest of the state, roughly three-quarters of Arizona is in either severe drought or extreme drought. A portion of northern and central Arizona is in either moderate drought or is abnormally dry.

In spite of the current drought conditions, the fire danger in the Prescott National Forest is moderate. Still, everyone is urged to be careful with anything that can produce a flame or a spark in order to prevent a wildfire from breaking out.
