Personnel from the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office and Verde Valley Fire District had to rescue a UTV rider who went over a 300-foot cliff near Cornville. The call came in just after 2:30 p.m. Monday.
Due to challenging terrain and the need for extraction, the incident was upgraded to a full technical rescue. Crews from Sedona Fire, Native Air, and the DPS Ranger helicopter responded. Rope technicians rappelled down the cliff with a Stokes basket, stabilized the patient, and safely raised him back to the top.
The patient was transported to the hospital.
