In an attempt to reduce hazardous fuels and wildfire risk, the Prescott National Forest will begin a broadcast burn in the area of Ponderosa Park. Officials say ignitions are planned to begin today and continue through next Wednesday. All work should be completed by Halloween. They say the recent rainfall created favorable conditions to safely conduct broadcast burns in several areas of the Prescott National Forest.
Residents can expect smoke impacts to be light and visible. National Forest officials remind residents to follow traffic signage and exercise caution when travelling in the area of Ponderosa Park and State Route 89 to the south.
