The Bradshaw Mountain football team established a 21-6 lead in the second quarter, only to see Coconino come back to tie the score in the third quarter. Then late in the frame, Kylin Jackson broke off a 38-yard touchdown run to put the Bears back on top. Bradshaw’s defense held the rest of the way to get the 28-21 victory Friday and sew up the Grand Canyon Region championship.
Jackson ended the night with three touchdown runs to pass the late David Moran to become the Bears’ all-time touchdown leader. Michael Sanford had a TD pass to Landon Taggart. Xander Mendibles recorded two sacks.
Meanwhile, down in Glendale, the Prescott badminton team took part in the state singles and doubles tournament over the weekend. Abbie Daniels finished as the state runner-up in singles, while Annabelle Courtney and Claire Long were the state runners-up in doubles.
