Man Arrested for Allegedly Robbing Store Clerk in Dewey

A man is in custody after a strong-arm robbery at a Dewey business left a clerk injured.

Deputies with the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office say the incident happened around 10 a.m. Friday at a store near Highway 69 and Kachina. A male suspect tried to buy a product without enough money. When the clerk refused the sale, he allegedly grabbed her by the hair, ripped out a handful, then took the product and ran.

Despite clear surveillance video, neither the clerk nor witnesses could identify the suspect. But the next day, a patrolling deputy spotted a man matching the description near Indian Hills Road. The man, identified as Daniel Bentler, was questioned and later arrested. He faces charges including robbery, aggravated assault, and burglary.
