A local assisted living facility had to be evacuated Sunday morning due to a fire. Officials with the Central Arizona Fire and Medical Authority say firefighters responded to reports of a structure fire at The Landings of Prescott Valley on North Windsong Drive. Crews arrived around 9:42 a.m. and discovered the building was not on fire — it was a microwave that had caused the smoke. The unit was removed and the building quickly ventilated.
CAFMA spokeswoman Kathy Goodman tells The News:
Interestingly, The Landings held a fire drill early last week — a move CAFMA officials say contributed to the orderly evacuation.
