A former Bradshaw Mountain football player found out just how much his team thinks of him. At the recent Lake Forest College football team’s banquet, Michael Kelley was named the Foresters’ team MVP for 2025. The ex-Bear had 29 tackles and one-and-a-half sacks this season, but his coach, Jim Catanzaro, summed up the reason for Kelley’s award by saying, “Stats are stats, leadership is leadership, and you had both of them this year and beyond.”
Kelley ends his college career with 89 tackles and seven sacks. He also played in every single game for Lake Forest in his four years on the team.
In his senior year for Bradshaw Mountain, Kelley was named the Grand Canyon Region Defensive Player of the Year. He also won the state wrestling championship at 215 pounds, and was named the KYCA/Tri-City Sports Round-Up 2021-2022 number one local male athlete of the year.
