Local scoreboard from the weekend, at the NAIA Cross Country National Championship meet, the Embry-Riddle women finished eighth and the men were 17th. Individually, Sophia Noriega was seventh for the women and Ben Smith was 22nd for the men.
In basketball, for the guys, Yavapai College fell to Glendale 73-70. Torin Bosch recorded 17 points and seven rebounds. Bradshaw Mountain lost to Scottsdale Saguaro 83-35. Kylin Jackson put up seven points. Mayer got topped by Williams 76-22. Ladies, Yavapai College lost to Mesa 115-40. Bradshaw Mountain zapped Scottsdale Saguaro 50-21. Carlee White put up nine points. Mayer lost to Williams 50-10.
Wrestling: at the Roadrunner Invitational, Embry-Riddle’s Daniil Gorshkov placed third in his weight class.
A Prescott golfer has made his commitment to college. Burley Johnson announced on Instagram he will play for Benedictine-Mesa. At this year’s state tournament, he shot a 158.
Alumni update time. Former Prescott wrestler Wyatt Rewerts competed for Embry-Riddle at the Roadrunner Invitational in Bakersfield, California Sunday. He placed fifth at 174 pounds.
