Prescott is gearing up for a big holiday weekend as Arizona’s official Christmas City.
This Saturday brings the 43rd annual Christmas Parade and the 71st annual Courthouse Lighting.
The parade steps off at 1 p.m. downtown, with streets along the route closing around 8 a.m. A detailed map of the parade route and all road closures will be posted on the KYCA website and Facebook page.
Following the parade, the Courthouse Lighting festivities start at 5 p.m. with seasonal music on the courthouse steps. The official program begins at 6 p.m., followed immediately by a fireworks show over the plaza.
Expect heavy traffic and limited parking downtown. Free shuttles will run from noon until 8 p.m. from Prescott High School and Yavapai College to the Granite Street Parking Garage. Shuttle service will pause during the fireworks from 6:15 to 6:45.
Most roads are expected to reopen by 9 p.m., or when Prescott Police say it’s safe.
