ERAU Women’s Soccer Clips William Carey in 2OT at Nat’l Tournament

For the first 30 minutes of play, the Embry-Riddle and William Carey women’s soccer teams were locked in a scoreless tie. That ended when Lauren Entremont’s goal put the Lady Crusaders up 1-0. Three minutes later, Jamie Brandon got the equalizer for the Lady Eagles.

William Carey almost regained the lead in the second half, only to have keeper Aubrie Dupre come up with a huge save. Riddle held the Lady Crusaders to just two shots on goal the entire second half, but failed to score themselves. The first overtime ended without a goal, but in the second OT, Brandon struck again, knocking the ball into the net to give the Lady Eagles the 2-1 victory in Tuesday’s NAIA National Tournament action.

Samantha Wright assisted on the first Riddle goal.

The win puts the Lady Eagles into the Elite Eight of the national tournament. Tomorrow, they face Truett McConnell, who beat Grace University Tuesday in a shootout.
