The Prescott City Council got a blunt warning Tuesday about Arizona’s state budget.
Senior vice president for governmental affairs, Nick Ponder, with HighGround Public Affairs Consultants, elaborated when Mayor Cathey Rusing sought a simple clarification:
The shortfall comes largely from Arizona conforming to new federal tax rules — no tax on tips and bigger senior deductions.
Lobbyist Alexis Susdorf from State48 called it a “tricky” year ahead and vowed to keep a close watch when the state legislative session starts January 13th.
