An off-duty fire captain is being praised for his heroic actions during a house fire in Prescott last weekend.
Central Arizona Fire and Medical Authority’s Brody Fields was on his way to the gym with his wife when he saw smoke rising near Ponderosa Park Road. Fields rushed to the scene ahead of first responders, helped evacuate two residents — including one who couldn’t walk — and secured personal belongings from the burning home.
He and his wife used a garden hose to slow the spread of flames until firefighters arrived. The fire, which started in a fireplace and spread to the attic, was quickly contained. No injuries were reported.
