Fatal DUI Crash in Mayer

One woman was killed in a DUI crash in Mayer Saturday evening.

According to the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called out to Antelope Creek Road around 5:40 p.m. A Toyota pickup truck had rolled about 20 feet down into Big Bug Wash, ejecting both occupants. The female passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, a 38-year-old woman, was found disoriented. She was first taken to the hospital by ambulance, but due to the seriousness of her injuries, she was airlifted to a Phoenix hospital.

Investigators say the driver showed signs of impairment. It was later determined she had a blood alcohol content of .236, nearly three times the legal limit.
