The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office announced its Volunteers in Protection unit has been awarded a prestigious national grant to boost emergency response.
The Invest in Others Charitable Foundation has granted $20,000 to the VIP unit — one of only 16 recipients out of nearly 550 applicants nationwide. The funding will equip volunteers with life-saving medical gear, including automated external defibrillators in every patrol vehicle and body-worn individual first aid kits.
In addition, all VIP members will undergo professional training to become certified in CPR, first aid, and AED operation.
Sheriff’s Office officials say the upgrade will enhance rapid response to medical emergencies across Yavapai County.
