More Pile Burning in PNF

Officials with the Prescott National Forest announced fire managers will conduct pile burns around the Mingus Summit in the Verde Ranger District. They say ignitions may begin as early as next Wednesday over a 72-acre area. Recent and ongoing rainfall has created favorable conditions for pile burning.

Smoke impacts are expected to be visible in areas surrounding Mingus Mountain, including Highway 89A, the Verde Valley, and Prescott Valley. Forest Service officials say smoke impacts will be most visible during ignitions but may last several days afterward.

While there are no closures or restrictions associated with the burns, visitors are reminded to obey all signage.
