1984: A record-setting day in college basketball. SUNY’s Annette Kennedy notched 70 points, a new record for a women’s collegiate basketball game. That helped SUNY to a 116-21 drubbing of Pratt Institute.

1989: A big win and a retirement. San Francisco knocked off Cincinnati 20-16 to win their third Super Bowl of the decade. After the game, head coach Bill Walsh retired.

2006: A huge game for the Black Mamba. The Lakers’ Kobe Bryant put up 81 points in a 122-104 victory over Toronto. It’s the second-most points in an NBA game behind Wilt Chamberlain’s 100.
