1921: A little plot of land would become a baseball cathedral. The New York Yankees purchased 20 acres of land in the Bronx that would become the site of Yankee Stadium. It opened in 1923, and was the home of the Pinstripes until 2008.
1989: He was the first to reach this plateau. The Lakers’ Kareem Abdul-Jabbar became the first player in NBA history to reach 38,000 points in a career. He ended his Hall of Fame career with 38,387 points.
2017: An incredible comeback. After trailing 28–3 in the third quarter, New England rallied to beat Atlanta 34–28 in overtime in Super Bowl LI. It was the largest comeback in Super Bowl history, as well as the first overtime ever for the big game.
