New Date for Primary Election

Primary election day will now be earlier than usual. Yavapai County Elections Department officials announced following a bill signing by Governor Katie Hobbs last week, Arizona’s primary elections will now take place the second-to-last Tuesday in July starting this year. That means this year’s primary will take place on July 21st, instead of the traditional first Tuesday in August.

The change gives election officials more time to prepare for the general election, including ensuring military and overseas voters receive their ballots on time.

Registered voters in Yavapai County have until June 22nd to sign up to vote. Early ballots will be mailed out and in-person early voting begins June 24th.

Candidate filing deadlines have also shifted. Partisan primary candidates must file between February 21st and March 23rd.
