The lack of rain and snow over the past few weeks has pushed the fire danger in the Prescott National Forest up to high. It was moderate last week. Everyone is reminded to always exercise caution with anything that can produce a flame or a spark to avoid starting a wildfire.
Make sure campfires are fully extinguished and ashes are cool to the touch before you leave; properly dispose of your cigarettes; when driving, make sure chains are not dragging from your vehicle, as they can throw out sparks. Also, do not park your car on grass, as the heat from beneath your vehicle could ignite the vegetation.
