When they met during the regular season, the Prescott girls soccer team scored an upset win over the much higher-ranked Coconino. Could they make it two upsets in the same season? The two sides faced off again in the Elite Eight of state Saturday, with the game tied 1-1 at the end of regulation and at the end of two overtimes. Next came the shootout, which the Lady Panthers won 5-4. That ends the Lady Badgers’ season.
In the Elite Eight of state for boys soccer, Trypp Challenger’s goal gave Prescott a 1-0 lead over number one ALA Gilbert North. But the Eagles got two unanswered goals to earn the 2-1 win and end the Badgers’ season.
At the Cascade Collegiate Conference wrestling tournament, Embry-Riddle came in third, with three individual champions — Jayden Luttrell, Daniil Gorshkov, and Kenny Copley, who was also the tournament’s outstanding wrestler.
At the high school state championship wrestling tournament, two locals finished as state runners-up: Bradshaw Mountain’s Riley Nollett for the boys and Prescott’s Gianna May for the girls.
