The Arizona Senate passed a bill to put the issue of photo radar enforcement before the voters. SCR 1004 would prohibit local and state government from using speed cameras unless they have a signed contract to use photo radar by the end of 2026.
Prescott-area Senator Mark Finchem touts the legislation as a ballot measure which no one can veto:
Democrats all voted against the measure. They argue the presence of photo radar has been a proven lifesaver, forcing people to slow down to keep from getting snapped. Finchem, however, says he doubts photo radar is actually saving lives.
