1968: Another one made it to 1,000. Montreal’s Jean Beliveau became the second player in NHL history to reach 1,000 points in his career. When he retired in 1971, Beliveau had 1,219 points.

1979: They played one more frame to determine a champion. The Tennessee men’s basketball team bested Kentucky 75-69 in overtime in the SEC championship game. The Volunteers made it to the second round of the national tournament.

2024: She became college basketball’s all-time scorer. Iowa’s Caitlin Clark recorded the 3,668th point of her collegiate career. That surpassed Pete Maravich’s record for most points by any college player.
