This Day in Sports History, March 13th

2010: A nail-biter in the title game. West Virginia got by Georgetown 60-58 to win the Big East Conference championship. The Mountaineers ultimately made it to the Final Four of the national tournament.

2018: He reached the century mark. Russell Westbroook achieved the 100th triple-double of his career in Oklahoma City’s 119-107 victory over Atlanta. Westbrook recorded 32 points, 12 rebounds, and 12 assists.

2022: He wasn’t done yet. Forty days after announcing his retirement, Tom Brady declared he would play one more season with Tampa Bay. He led the Buccaneers to the wild card game, only to lose to Dallas.

Time to wish a happy birthday today to . . . former San Francisco Giants first baseman Will “The Thrill” Clark, who’s 62. Ex–Minnesota Twins pitcher Johan Santana is 47. Former Washington Wizards small forward Caron Butler is 46, and Tampa Bay Lightning center Brayden Point is 30.
