PHS Girls Tennis Edges Out ALA Gilbert North

The Prescott girls tennis team had a rough return from spring break Tuesday as they were vanquished by Horizon 7–2. Wednesday looked like it would be another tough day as they dropped four of their six singles matches to ALA Gilbert North. But doubles carried the day for the Lady Badgers as they swept all three contests for the 5–4 win over the Lady Eagles.

Two of those doubles matches were decided by two points, with Alder Aten and Juliette Gundermann winning 9–7, and Makenzie Lanford and Mandy Hirasa winning 8–6. Sophia Viterbo and Kloee Aurich won their doubles match 8–4. Aurich also went to a third set tiebreaker to win her singles match. Aten was also a winner at singles by scores of 6–0 and 6–1.

The win improves Prescott’s record to 5–1 on the season. They have another match today, their third in as many days. The Lady Badgers will host Bradshaw Mountain.
