Verde Valley Fire District Chief Danny Johnson spent some time last week serving as a voice at the national level. Verde Valley fire officials announced Chief Johnson represented the Arizona Fire Districts Association at the Congressional Fire Services Institute in Washington, D.C. He had the opportunity to meet with not only legislators, but other national leaders, in an effort to highlight challenges facing fire districts across Arizona. Johnson advocated for resources, funding, wildfire prevention and mitigation efforts, and the support departments need to serve effectively.
Fire officials say opportunities such as these are necessary to ensure all fire districts have a voice at the national level, allowing avenues for firefighters to better serve their communities.
