Cement Truck Wheel Crashes Through Paulden Home

A Paulden man escaped serious injury Wednesday evening after a cement truck wheel assembly crashed through the wall of his home.

At approximately 7:35 p.m., a pair of rear wheels sheared off a northbound cement truck off State Route 89 in the Paulden area, traveled off the roadway, and crashed through the brick exterior wall of a nearby residence — coming to rest just feet from the homeowner’s bed.

The resident told deputies he had stepped away from his bedroom moments before the impact. Bodycam footage provided to KYCA by the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office shows the resident was initially unable to exit the room, with debris blocking the door. Deputies worked to clear the way.

Yavapai County Sheriff’s deputies located the cement truck approximately 15 miles north on State Route 89. The driver reportedly had no idea the wheel assembly had detached — though deputies noted the vehicle was visibly missing the entire assembly from one side.

No injuries were reported by either the resident or the driver.

The Sheriff’s Office is reminding commercial drivers to conduct thorough pre-trip inspections to ensure the mechanical safety of their vehicles.
