Arizona State Troopers are urging drivers to slow down and stay focused — after a sobering milestone on state roadways.
The department of public safety says troopers have investigated nearly 70 fatal collisions statewide in the first 100 days of 2026.
In response, highway patrol troopers out of flagstaff dedicated a recent weekend to focused enforcement details across state, U-S, and interstate highways.
The results: 302 traffic stops — leading to 298 citations for moving violations, seat belt noncompliance, stop sign infractions, and move-over violations.
Troopers also made multiple arrests for d-u-i, reckless driving, criminal speed, suspended or revoked license, outstanding warrants, and drug paraphernalia possession. The enforcement push is part of d-p-s’s ongoing arrive alive Arizona campaign.
