This Day in Sports History April 21st

1964: The balls were flying out of Wrigley Field like crazy. The Pirates and Cubs combined for nine home runs in a game Pittsburgh won 8–5. Future Hall of Famers Roberto Clemente, Ron Santo, and Billy Williams each had a dinger.

1995: They said goodbye to their home. The Boston Celtics played their final regular season game at Boston Garden. Unfortunately, they were beaten by the visiting New York Knicks 98–92.

2012: A perfect day for this White Sox pitcher. Philip Humber tossed a perfect game against Seattle, getting the 4–0 win. Humber fanned nine en route to the victory.

Who’s celebrating a birthday in the sports world today? How about former Baltimore Orioles outfielder Al Bumbry, who’s 79. Ex–New York Mets reliever Jesse Orosco is 69. Quebec Nordiques Hall of Fame winger Michel Goulet is 66. Chicago Blackhawks Hall of Fame goalie Eddie Belfour is 61. Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo is 46, and Cleveland Cavaliers center Jarrett Allen is 28.
