1876: Game number one. The very first National League took place at the Jefferson Street Grounds in Philadelphia. The Boston Red Caps clipped the Philadelphia Athletics 6-5.
1970: A big day for Ks. The Mets’ Tom Seaver set a then–major league record with 19 strikeouts in a 2-1 win over San Diego. Seaver also fanned the last ten batters he faced.
1988: This guy was an offensive machine. New Jersey’s Patrik Sundstrom set an NHL playoff record with eight points in one game. He recorded a hat trick and five assists in a 10-4 drubbing of Washington.
