Campers and visitors heading to the Prescott National Forest this weekend should plan to bring their own water.
The Forest Service reports multiple water outages across several recreation sites due to emergency repairs and system failures.
At Groom Creek Horse Camp, drinking water is out until further notice. The campground is still scheduled to open May 1st, and water for horses will be available — but campers are on their own for drinking water. Repairs are expected to wrap up by mid-May.
In the Granite Basin area, including Yavapai Campground, all water service is currently offline. No timeline for restoration has been given.
At Horsethief Basin, the cabin’s sink and toilet are working, but the shower is down. No water is available at Hazlett Hollow or Turney Gulch campgrounds.
The Forest Service says crews are working to restore service and updates will be posted to the Prescott National Forest website and Facebook page.
